Book #15 - Where Are You Now?
Title: Where Are You Now? Author: Mary Higgins Clark Copyright date: 2008 Summary: Carolyn’s brother Mack disappeared 10 years ago. He just walked out of his life without a word to anyone. He calls every year on Mother’s Day. Finally, Carolyn takes the investigation into her own hands and decides to search for her brother herself. Part of a series? No. Do I own this book? No. My thoughts on the book: (spoiler warning) I love mystery books. I also love Law and Order, and this book is a lot like that. It could get confusing though if you don’t pay attention while you read. There are a lot of characters to keep up with and the chapters change between different characters perspectives, frequently. By the end of the book you’re caught up in this big web of characters and motives and lies and the end of the book comes on suddenly. All the clues add up all at once and of course it’s who you least expect. It definitely wasn’t what I expected to happen in the end. Book #14 - Daddy’s Little Girl
Title: Daddy’s Little Girl Author: Mary Higgins Clark Copyright date: 2002 Summary: Ellie’s sister was murdered and 22 years later her killer is up for parole, and he’s trying to clear his name. Ellie, an investigative reporter starts a website to document everything she learns about him. Her goal is to convince everyone else of his guilt. Part of a series? No Do I own this book? I did, but I can’t find it and I think I must have loaned it to someone who never returned it. I checked this copy out at the library. My thoughts on the book: (spoiler warning) I really enjoy this book, I’ve read it twice now. I love mysteries and this one is intriguing and very well written. It hits a little close to home after losing my sister, I know the loss that she feels. Also after not having any contact with her dad for 20+ years, she discovers that she has a half brother, and I myself recently discovered that I have a half-sister. The similarities are there. The book held my interest, even though I’d already read it. I couldn’t put it down. Book #13 - Betrayed
Title: Betrayed: A House of Night novel Author: P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast Copyright date: 2007 Summary: Zoey has just settled in at the House of Night when human boys start going missing, and then turning up dead. All signs are pointing to the vamps being responsible. Also Zoey is betrayed by someone she trusted. Part of a series? Yes. Do I own this book? Yes. My thoughts on the book: (spoiler warning) When I did my review for Marked, I talked about how Zoey is a Mary Sue. I forgot to mention that on top of all of her other perfect attributes, she has also managed to start dating the “hottest guy” at the House of Night. Now in Betrayed, she’s not only dating Erik Night (House of Night “hottie”) she’s also seeing “almost ex-boyfriend” Heath (the star quarterback for her old school), as well as getting a little too flirty with the “hottest teacher” at the House of Night, Loren Blake. I’ve read the series before, and I can tell you that the list of guys just keeps getting longer. Which only adds to her Mary Sue-ness, all of the “hottest guys” falling for her. I can’t stand her. Really, I tried, but I can’t. About this book though. Teenage boys from the area start to go missing, and then they turn up dead. Neferet is spreading word that Aphrodite’s visions are false (which Zoey proves is not true.) Zoey’s best friend and room mate, Stevie Rae, dies. Then Zoey has a vision about her and a few other dead kids. Heath goes missing and it’s up to Zoey and her Super Powers to find him and save the day. Rating: 6 What I’m reading next: Daddy’s Little Girl by Mary Higgins Clark (‘ll finish the House of Night Series soon I promise) #Betrayed #house of night #P.C. Cast #Kristin Cast #vampyre #vampire |
